Children of Tangaroa was an immersive audio-visual exhibition that conveyed the stories of Aotearoa’s whales and dolphins on organically shaped screens of stretched fabric to the accompaniment of a symphony of the deep. The projections and audio were bespoke and site specific. The deep, dark colour palette was evoked the spirit of a trip to the depths.

In giving the exhibition the Installation Design Award at the 2012 Interior Awards, the judges said: “Given a pauper’s budget, the designers showed incredible resourcefulness in enlisting help to portray an understanding of what is, for many people, a very emotive subject.”
