Parnell Townhouse
Inheriting a concept design from RTA studio, Bureaux managed the execution, interiors and finishes of this Parnell townhouse. The two-bedroom home’s commitment to rich texture is signalled from the outset with a monolithic wall of poured-in-place black concrete in the entrance foyer. To the wall’s reverse, the lounge sits under a lowered ceiling of tongue-and-groove boards, while the dining area slips seamlessly out past black-framed doors to a meticulously landscaped, formal courtyard with open fire and water feature.
A black and white theme is prevalent throughout all living and bathroom areas. The kitchen sits neatly behind a large marble island, the lightness of surfaces contrasting with the brass and dark-timber cabinetry. Throughout the house, walls are porcelain plaster, except in the bathrooms, where they are dark. Upstairs, a less formal second lounge offers a place for listening to music or watching movies (or to hang a model of the Hindenburg, or display a military uniform).
